Caravan upholstery plus kids equals a costly mess. So I've been meaning to make covers since forever.
The snag is I don't have enough fabric - husband doesn't believe me - I have loads of fabric he says. Well he is technically correct but I don't have anything like enough fabric in one colour or even four for that matter.
I do have an embarrassingly large pile of "granny" fabric. Most of it is quite literally inherited from my Grandma. It's yukky yuk yuk. A lot of it is pale be it white or cream ish.
I also have a stash of Dylon Dyes I bought for a similar project that sat on my "to sew" list for so long I no longer have the sofa.
So a day of dyeing and here goes:

I cut all the fabric into 2.5 inch wide strips and sewed them into continuous lengths.
Then sewed the strips together.
Cut them into 8.5 inch wide squares.
One square laid on-top of another rotated through 90 degrees.
All four edges sewn with a 1/4 inch seam allowance.
Cut across the diagonal.
Then the other diagonal.
And press - starting to take shape!
Sewn together and pressed.
Here's the finished block.
15 blocks sewn together and laid on a velvet backing fabric.
Quilted using a walking foot.
And the excess trimmed off.
I've used these patchwork panels to make very simple slip covers for my caravan seats.
