Max and Meena's Maxaloones Grow With Me Pants Sewing Project - Retro Flowers

Maxaloones Grow With Me Pants are fantastic.  This size fits from 12 months to 5 years, so much better value than standard sized pants.

The secret is that kids tend to grow up as in they get taller but their waist measurements don't actually change all that much.  So by making the pant cuffs really long they can be folded or scrunched down for the little children and stretched out as they grow.  The waistband can also be folded over or scrunched up for smaller children although I tend to stretch it out and use it as an extra layer of clothing during the winter.

I opted to include the bum circle as most 1 - 3 year old's are still wearing nappies.  It's designed to allow extra room to accommodate cloth nappies.  The extra fabric in the seat also means that the pants are less inclined to ride up whilst baby wearing.  The cuffs can also be unfolded to keep little feet protected from the cold or sun.

The top stitching around the bum circle gives the seam a little extra strength and makes it look lovely and neat.

The main pant construction is super simple.

And the bands are made in just the normal way.

I use a straight stitch to reduce the bulk in the seams.

Then I press them flat.

Then they're folded in half.

The leg cuffs are done in just the same way.

Although they can be a little more fiddly than the waist band.

The oversized cuffs are sewn onto the pants in the normal way.

Here's a front view of the pants.

And this is how they look folded to the smallest size.

And here's the adorable bum circle!!

They do fit just fine on the bigger kids too.
