Girls Cherry Skirt Sewing Project - Simplicity 1332

What a fabulously fun print for the summer!  Just image your Little Miss wearing this bright and cheerful skirt that's just made for twirling and having fun.  It's made from a lovely quality 100% cotton that will stand up to wash after wash so your Little Miss can feel free to explore and play without worrying about her outfit.

Simplicity 1332 features a simple skirt with a gathered elasticated waist and twin stitched hem.

Just look at how those cherries pop against the black background!

The twin stitched hem adds a really professional finish.

The elasticated gathered waistband makes getting this skirt on and off a breeze, great for encouraging her independence.  It will also stretch as she grows so it will fit for ages.

You can buy this skirt from my NuMonday shop or you can click on the affiliate links below to make your own:

Pin, sew and finish the side seams.

Press up the hem and press down the waistband.

I use a slightly different technique for the elastic insertion than shown in the pattern instructions.  I cut my elastic and sew the two ends together to make a loop.

Then I insert the elastic loop under the waistband and stitch the waistband in place with a twin needle securing the elastic inside the casing.  I find that this gives a much neater finish and is also much quicker to sew than inserting the elastic with a bodkin after sewing the waistband.

Last of all I stitch them hem in place with a twin needle.
