Burda 9408 T Shirt Sewing Project

A plain T Shirt to go with the dinosaur romper I made a few weeks ago, made from an old adults T Shirt.  I'm using Burda 9408, it's a pattern I've used loads of times before but I'm really struggling to get the neckline to look just right.  This time I'm trying omitting the snaps and using a super stretchy fabric.

Tools and Materials:
Fabric - an old T Shirt

I pinned the front and back neckbands in place.

Sewed, over locked and pressed.

Then I stitched the shoulder seams and realised my mistake.  I should have stitched the shoulder seams THEN sewn the neckband in place.  Grrr stupid rookie error!!

It's not hugely noticeable so I carried on.  Hopefully my sewing skills will improve by the time my children are old enough to notice little mistakes like this!!  I certainly thought my other was a genius with a sewing machine as I was growing up but now I can spot some mistakes in her earlier work, not many to be fair.

I stitched the sleeve and side seams in one.  I'm not sure if the patterns calls for that but it's my favourite method for a neat finish.

I also top stitched the neckband with a twin needle for a stretchy seam.  It holds the back of the seam in place and finishes of the garment.

I think the colour's go together quite well.  Little Pickle will look adorable in this, he just needs to grow a bit more first.

Here are some of my previous sews with this pattern.

It's had quite a bit of use over the years!

Handmade Lily Chalice Sympathy Card

Elegant and sophisticated handmade sympathy card.  A lily and chalice image hand coloured in subtle tones of sepia.  Each layer has an aged effect applied with distress ink pads.  Embellishment is kept to a bare minimum, just a few gems in one corner to balance the greeting which reads "With Sympathy".

Pilot Frixion Fineliner Review

I treated myself to a pack of these Pilot Frixion Fineliners.

Pilot FriXion Fineliners Pack of 4 Light Blue/Pink/Green/Violet

I'll be testing them with my Rocketbook and sketching paper.

The pens write beautifully on both types of paper.

They dried pretty quickly on the Rocketbook so there wasn't any smudging which is an issue I find with the Pilot Frixion Fibre Tip Pens.

I wasn't surprised that they wrote nicely on the sketching paper, a good quality pen on good quality paper should always result in a pleasant writing experience.

Erasing the Pilot Frixion Fineliners wasn't as straightforward as advertised.  I ha to rub so much I was rubbing away the surface of the paper.  I'm assuming this is because I used sketching paper instead of a more traditional smooth surface.

Of course easing on the Rocketbook was dream.

I'm really impressed with the Pilot Frixion Fineliners.  Th3ey'r elovely to write with and will make great titles and little details in my bullet journal.   I think I'll be investing in more of them in place of the Pilot Frixion Fibre Tip Pens I use at the moment.

Healthy-ish Airfryer Crispy Chips Recipe

This is what I make myself when I'm in a bad mood and craving salty, greasy junk food.  It's far from healthy but I'd hazard a guess it's much better for me than any of the shop bought alternatives.  And it satisfies my cravings much better.

Tools and Ingredients:

and some good old spuds.
You can use any spice mix you fancy.

Slice the potatoes as thinly as you can.  I'm sure you can get a gadget for this.  In fact I'm sure hubby has a gadget for this but I do just fine with a good sharp knife.

Layer the potatoes in the air fryer.

Drizzle some oil over them and sprinkle on some spice mix.

Cook them in the air fryer for about 15 - 20 minutes shaking them occasionally.

Let them cool for a bit before tucking in - yeah right, just get stuck in!

Pin this post for later.
