PollyCraft Critters and Cogs Alien Balloon Card

I seem to be going through a phase of making clean and simple cards with young boys in mind.  Totally different to my normal fussy and fancy fairy style.

I'm also loving these monster themed papers from BoBunny.

Burda 9828 Pants in Blue Denim - Sewing Project

Every wardrobe should include a pair of jeans.  Comfy, cute and hardwearing, what's not to love?

I was hoping to get these out of an old pair of my jeans but Little Miss has got too big and I used to be too skinny . . . I foresee some sort of patchwork version in the pipeline.  But for now I'll make them up according to the pattern with some denim fabric I have.

The pattern includes instructions for hems in a contrasting colour which isn't the look I'm going for so I'm skipping those steps.

Side seams first.

Then the edges of the pockets are finished.

Tops folded over and sewn in place.

Turned to the right side and raw edges pressed inwards.

Pocket positioned and sewn in place with contrasting top stitching.

Inner leg seams.

Then one pant leg turned right side out to go inside the other, right sides together.  Then the crotch seam.

Hems.

Elastic inserted into the top waistband.

And voila!

I wonder if I could use a contrasting band of another denim across the middle of each leg.  Perhaps with the pockets in the same fabric.  Just to figure out how to make the seam without it being too bulky.  So far I'm thinking scrappy and distressed.

Samlesbury Hall Dog Show

Samlesbury Hall is a great place to visit with young kiddos.

There's no entry fee so you don't feel obliged to stay all day and get your money's worth.

There's lots of little things to see so it's easy to move onto something else and avoid a bored toddler.

There's a small farm with chickens, sheep, pigs and goats.  A beekeeper's hut where you can taste honey and buy some exceedingly scrummy fudge.  An adventure playground and formal gardens.  Then there's the house itself which has brilliantly entertaining tours.

They make their money from the cafe so you aren't allowed to bring a picnic but the food is very good so I can't complain.

Today we popped along for their annual Dog Show.  It was fun entering our pup and catching up with some of his old friends from SASD.  He didn't win but Little Miss was very pleased with her participation rosette.

Little Miss also had a fab time playing in the adventure playground.
