Girls Cherry Summer Dress - Sewing Pattern Review: McCalls 7377

What a fabulously fun print for the summer.  Just image your Little Miss wearing this bright and cheerful dress at parties and play dates.

You can buy this dress from my NuMonday shop or you can scroll down to see how it's made.

This 100% cotton dress is loose fitting so it will help to keep your little one nice and cool in the hot summer sun we're hoping to see!  And if the British weather behaves as it usually does she can still enjoy wearing this dress with a top and tights underneath to keep her warm and comfortable right through to the winter.

Because this A line dress fits only at the shoulders there's loads and loads of growing room.  Little people tend to grow up much more than they grow outwards so the shoulder size usually remains the same for quite a long time.  When this dress gets too short you can probably get an extra year's worth of wear out of it by wearing it as a tunic length top with shorts or leggings.  My Little Miss is petite so she gets a full three years wear out of these dresses - fantastic value!

It's made from a lovely quality 100% cotton that will stand up to wash after wash so your Little Miss can feel free to explore and play without worrying about getting dirty.

What a lovely gift this dress would make.  Any little girl would love the bright and cheerful cherry print and their parent will appreciate a practical and thoughtful present.  They'll be reminded of your kind wishes every time she wears this pretty dress.

The dress fastens at the back with a pretty pink button and pink gingham ribbon loop.  I've deliberately chosen a slightly larger button than necessary to make it easier for little fingers to get the dress on and off by themselves.

Size 6 years.  29 inch chest.  34 inch hip.  Width at lower edge 37.5 inches.  Back length from base of neck 24 inches.

All seams are double stitched for extra strength to stand up to rough and tumble toddler play.  All seams are professionally finished with an overlocker, so there's no raw edges to fray in the wash.  Hems are stitched with a twin needle for a really professional finish.

Machine wash at 40 degrees.  Can be tumble dried and ironed with a hot iron.

Under stitching keeps the facing in position wash after wash.

The back opening is aligned perfectly.

The side seams are double stitched.

And the sleeves are set in with the slightest hint of a gather.

The hems are firmly pressed.

And stitched in place with a twin needle for a professional finish.
